Seasonal Clerkship Program

At Hunt & Hunt, our people are at the heart of what we do. A seasonal clerkship gives you the opportunity to experience our culture of genuine people delivering practical solutions, all while exploring what it's actually like to work in the legal profession.

Hunt & Hunt offers seasonal clerkship positions in our Melbourne office.

Why a Hunt & Hunt Clerkship?

A clerkship at Hunt & Hunt gives you a strong head start to your legal career. Over four weeks, you’ll:

  • Work with senior lawyers on real, meaningful matters
  • Be exposed to a broad range of practice areas and industry sectors
  • Have direct access to senior lawyers who are leaders in their field
  • Experience a supportive, down-to-earth and collaborative working environment

We believe that involving you in real work allows us to get to know each other better and helps you decide whether Hunt & Hunt is the right firm for you. Our seasonal clerkship program is designed to help you build the skills and confidence needed to succeed as a graduate lawyer.

Graduate Program

Our graduate program is built around the same values that underpin our firm — genuine people, practical solutions and meaningful work.

The program runs for 12 months from March each year and supports graduates to complete their Practical Legal Training (PLT) through the College of Law while gaining hands-on experience across our core practice areas.

Graduates will:

  • Undertake matter-related work under supervision from experienced practitioners
  • Receive structured in-house training and mentoring
  • Work directly with senior lawyers in a collaborative team environment
  • Develop strong legal, communication and time management skills

Students who participate in our seasonal clerkship pool are prioritised for graduate opportunities. Where additional places are available, positions may be advertised following the release of placements in accordance with the Law Institute of Victoria Traineeship Guidelines.

Your Development

We are committed to developing lawyers who are technically strong, commercially aware and grounded in practical thinking.

As a graduate, you will be supported through:

  • A dedicated senior lawyer mentor
  • A junior lawyer buddy for day-to-day guidance
  • Ongoing support from the People & Culture team
  • Practical Legal Training through the College of Law
  • Practice area-specific and skills-based training
  • Development in communication, time management and client service

Just as importantly, we encourage graduates to immerse themselves in our culture — building relationships, asking questions, contributing ideas and enjoying the experience of working with genuine people who care about the work they do and the people they work with.
